ALCOSAN 3 Rivers Proud Anything That Floats Race

Think you’ve got what it takes to build a boat that floats? Here’s your chance to sink or sail. An EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta favorite, the ALCOSAN 3 Rivers Proud Anything That Floats Race returns this year on Sunday, August 6 at 2pm, challenging Pittsburghers to build homemade boats that, they hope, will stay afloat. The boats must be built out of household materials—no motors, inflatable rafts, pool toys, canoes, kayaks or commercially designed crafts allowed!

“Just like the Formula One Powerboat races and the spectacular fireworks, the Anything that Floats race is a Regatta tradition that people love to attend every year,” said Arletta Scott Williams, ALCOSAN Executive Director. “It’s a great way to showcase the three rivers ALCOSAN works so hard to help keep clean. We can’t wait to see the crazy inventions participants come up with this year.”

While the race is all in good fun, it’s for a good cause, too. The teams that win fastest vessel, “greenest” vessel and most creative boat design will receive up to $2,500 for a charity of their choice. There will also be an honorable mention award to the fastest sinker.
