EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta Doubles Your Summer Fun for 2016
For Immediate Release
Pittsburgh, PA, April 5, 2016 – The EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta is giving our region twice the fun this year by hosting two individual summertime festivals – a traditional July 4 celebration – and then a month later, a full weekend of Regatta activities with entertainment and action-packed water events.
This year’s Regatta will take place the weekend of August 5-7, 2016, giving attendees three days of fun in the sun – with plenty of boat races, music, food, and entertainment. And to ensure a spectacular red, white and blue Independence Day, the Regatta will continue to sponsor an exciting Fourth of July celebration by providing festivities throughout the day – capped off with the EQT Flashes of Freedom Fireworks.
Separating these two events is the Regatta’s way of presenting the region with not one, but two exciting Pittsburgh traditions that will be anticipated year after year.
“The City of Pittsburgh is ever changing and we want to compliment this evolution,” said Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta Board Chairman, John Bonassi. “This year’s Regatta is certain to be a renewed summer classic.”
“Both the EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta and the July 4 EQT Flashes of Freedom Fireworks are signature initiatives for us,” said Natalie Cox, Corporate Director of Communications, EQT Corporation. “We are thrilled to be able now to expand our community engagement even more by providing the region with twice as much warm weather fun with these two hallmarks of the summer calendar.”
The Regatta’s Fourth of July celebration will take place at Point State Park and serve as Pittsburgh’s official holiday celebration complete with local main stage entertainment, food concessions, and plenty of activities for the kids. As in years past, the EQT Flashes of Freedom Fireworks is produced by Pyrotecnico and is recognized as one of the top 10 displays in the country.
The EQT Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta three-day event in August will bring back the excitement of the Formula 1 Powerboats, the giant Gondola Ferris Wheel, known as the “Wheel of Lights,” the Sandsational Sand Sculpture, national and regional music acts, as well as the Anything That Floats competition – all taking place throughout Point State Park, Clemente Bridge, and the North Shore.
